St Stephen's Basilica Christmas Market, Budapest

Expect to find a variety of handmade and high-quality products, but be prepared for slightly higher prices.

Make sure to check the payment methods at the stalls, as most only accept cards.

If you're on a budget, ask for the daily discount menu at the stalls, as they offer cheaper options that aren't well advertised.

Be cautious with card payments; ensure you check the price displayed on terminals to avoid being overcharged.

For cheaper traditional Hungarian dishes like chimney cake and strudel, walk a couple of streets away from the market to find better prices.

Try the chimney cakes and hot roasted chestnuts, which are local delicacies available at the market.

Be sure to catch the light painting on the Basilica facade every afternoon from 5:30 p.m.; it's a breathtaking sight.

The market features a small ice skating rink in the center, which is free to use and you can rent skates.

Expect a lively atmosphere with shows, dance, and music performances that add to the festive experience.

Expect larger crowds on weekends, but even on weekdays, the market can be quite busy.

Be aware of the opening hours, especially on Christmas Day when they operate with shorter hours.
